At the historic Fairmont Château Laurier, overlooking the Rideau Canal, data professionals from across Ottawa gathered on March 24, 2026, for the FME Breakfast of Champions—a morning dedicated to innovation, collaboration, and the power of data.

The event brought together analysts, developers, and public sector leaders to connect with Safe Software experts and explore real-world solutions to complex data challenges.

The success of Justice on Ice came full circle this week as the funds raised were officially handed over to the CHEO Foundation. 

Sgt. Sébastien Lemay, members of the University of Ottawa Civil Law student team, and a representative from CHEO came together to present a cheque for $9,480.31, the total raised through the inaugural charity hockey game between the Ottawa Police Service and the University of Ottawa Civil Law students.

On June 28, 2019, Mr. Chavi Walsh woke to find his vehicles in his driveway had been broken into. Several items were stolen, including an Omega wristwatch valued at $4,500.

I was born and raised in Ottawa, and I’ve been a civilian member of the Ottawa Police Service since 2002.

Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to serve in a variety of roles, including Courts, CPIC, Backgrounds, the Intimate Partner Violence Unit, and Front Desk Services.

I grew up in Montreal, Quebec, where I lived until the age of 13, before moving to Melbourne, Australia for two years.

After returning to Montreal for several more years, I relocated to Ottawa to complete my undergraduate degree in Biomedical Science.

Meet Kelly Fontil — a master tailor whose craftsmanship has quietly supported the Ottawa Police Service for decades.

Originally from Haiti, Kelly joined his mother in Canada in 1984. One day, walking through the ByWard Market, he stopped into Mendel Good’s tailor store, and struck up a conversation with owner. That conversation changed his life. Mr. Good offered him a job.

The moment Cst. Fern John-Simon stepped into Dr. F.J. McDonald School, a positive impact was felt.

The invitation came after a teacher saw her on television and immediately reached out, asking her to be a Black History Month guest of honour. 

The Ottawa Police Service proudly hosted another successful Polar Plunge in support of Special Olympics Ontario, with members, community partners, and supporters coming together in a show of courage and community spirit.

Thanks to the generosity of participants, donors and sponsors, this year’s event raised more than $63,000 for Special Olympics Ontario and its athletes and families across the province.
