This week, from April 13 to 19, we celebrate National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week — a time to recognize the voices behind the headsets at the Ottawa Police Service.

In early March 2026, members of the Guns and Gangs Unit received information regarding a man believed to be trafficking controlled substances in Ottawa.
The third annual Beeping Eggs Project in Ottawa brought families together this spring for an inclusive Easter egg hunt designed for children who are blind or visually impaired.
Unlike traditional egg hunts, participants searched for plastic eggs equipped with small electronic beepers, allowing children to locate them independently by sound.

Ottawa — The Ottawa Police Service has laid charges in connection with a suspicious person investigation on the campus of the University of Ottawa on April 10, 2026.
As previously reported, officers responded to the area of Nicholas Street and Laurier Avenue following reports of a suspicious person.
(Ottawa) — Ottawa Police are seeking witnesses following a fatal collision that occurred on the 1700 block of Dunrobin Road on Wednesday, April 8, 2026.
At approximately 5:10 p.m., officers responded to a report of a single all‑terrain vehicle (ATV) collision on a private property in the 1700 block of Dunrobin Road.

On April 2, at approximately 2:28 p.m., officers responded to the 2800 block of Riverside Drive for a suspicious incident.
(Ottawa) – The Ottawa Police Service (OPS) is requesting the public’s help in identifying a suspect involved in a robbery that occurred at a jewellery store located within the Bayshore Shopping Centre.
At approximately 9:40 a.m. on March 23rd, the suspect entered a jewellery store, smashed a cabinet and removed jewellery, some of which is traceable and might show up for sale on the internet.
(Ottawa) — Investigators continue to seek information in relation to a sexual assault that occurred March 28 on Colonel By Drive, near the Mackenzie King Bridge.
A new image of the suspect is being released, though it remains low quality.
(Ottawa)—The Ottawa Police Service is investigating an aggravated assault that took place near Colonel By Drive and Rideau Street.
On April 1, shortly after 2 p.m., a man was assaulted resulting in life-threatening injuries.
