OPS comment on SIU investigation - Sexual assault charge laid against former Deputy Chief

(Ottawa)—Today, the Ontario Special Investigations Unit charged former Deputy Chief Uday Jaswal with one count of Sexual assault following an investigation into an incident that occurred in 2011 while Jaswal was an Inspector with the Ottawa Police Service.He is scheduled to appear in court on July 18th.
DC Jaswal resigned from the Service in February 2022.

Five suspects to identify in gym locker thefts across the city

(Ottawa) — The Ottawa Police Service is seeking public assistance to identify five suspects responsible for a series of thefts and frauds since June 1st.
To date, 20 incidents of credit cards stolen from lockers at fitness gyms across the city have been reported to police.

(Ottawa) – The Ottawa Police Service (OPS) announces the launch of the Residents Matter (#ResidentsMatter) late-night traffic enforcement initiative.
Starting on Friday, June 21st, the OPS Residents Matter Enforcement Teams (RMET), composed of OPS frontline and Traffic Unit officers, began deploying to late-night high-complaint locations in the Barrhaven area.

(Ottawa)— The Ottawa Police Service responded to the 100 block of Besserer Street at 2:36 am on Saturday June 22, 2024, regarding a disturbance. Officers arrived on scene and found one person suffering from a gunshot wound.
The victim was transported to hospital in stable condition.
Officers remain on scene as the investigation is ongoing.

Charges laid in Hate-Motivated vandalism incident in Barrhaven

(Ottawa) – The Ottawa Police has charged two individuals in relation to hate-motivated vandalism that occurred at a home on Maynooth Court in Barrhaven.
Police received an online report on June 7th and an investigation was commenced by the Hate and Bias Crime Unit.
