I am proud to be Kurdish.
I have a background in law enforcement, having served as a correctional officer in British Columbia before joining the Ottawa Police Service. I speak four languages in addition to English including Arabic, Kurdish, Turkish and Farsi, which allow me to connect with diverse communities.
My passion for policing comes from my commitment to public safety.
I look forward to serving and making a difference in Ottawa.

My name is Arthur Poon, and I am an OPS Auxiliary Sergeant. I joined the Auxiliary Unit in 2016, marking nine fulfilling years of service.

(Ottawa) — The Ottawa Police Service requested assistance earlier this month to locate missing man, Yusuf Shukran-Wafif.
Sadly, he has been located deceased. There is no foul play or suspicious circumstances suspected.
We wish to extend our condolences to his family and friends.

Fatal collision on Smyth Road; police seeking witnesses

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Wednesday, April 30, 2025 4:42 p.m.
(Ottawa) — The Ottawa Police Service is seeking witnesses to a fatal collision that occurred this morning on Smyth Road.
Just after 10 a.m., emergency crews responded to a collision at Smyth Road and Othello Avenue between a pedestrian and a truck.
The pedestrian, a woman in her 50s, tragically succumbed to her injuries.
